SMUGGLERS IN BRITAIN. LONDON, June 29. Record flues were imposed at Portsmouth when George Frankling, 8 cigarette maker, was fii.ed £37,808, and Alexander McManamie, a master mariner, £36,901, and 100 guineas costs each, in default six months’ imprisoni ment, for smuggling 4464 pounds of unmanufactured tobacco from Antwerp.
