A TEN-TON CAKE. SHILLING A SLICE. PROCEEDS FOR CHARITY. MELBOURNE, June 29. The centenary birthday cake will weigh ten tons. It will be cut into 250,000 slices, each with some icing and ornamental. These will be sold at a shilling each, the proceeds going to charity. The cake will contain, among other ingredients, 14 tons of butter, J j tons of sugar, li tons of flour, 44 tons of dried fruits, and 36,000 eggs.
