"THE BELLE OF NEW YORK”
FIRST REHEARSAL TO-NIGHT MUSICAL DIRECTOR’S APPEAL An endeavour is being made by the Wanganui Amateur Musical and Dra matic Society to eclipse aU previous efforts in the production of the popular “Belle of New York.” This piece presents wonderful scope and the large cast will result in glorious cnanccs being offered to the younger memwers of the society. “I would be glad to see various members of the chorus that took part ja the Carnival competition rast February attend the first rehearsal of the “Belle of New York” to-night at the Royale Willows,” said Mr. Gordon Mcßeth, musical director, wiien approached yesterday by a •'Chronicle” reporter. ‘ “The assistance or such singing talent would probably result in a performance of a standard not yet reached in Wanganui. The magnificent finale to Act I. demands a well-bal-anced combination and a solid backing of male voices that can sing their parts without misgivings. There Is a very big cast and plenty of fun for everybody.”
