BOXING AT CHRISTCHURCH RAYNER BEATS HAWES [ Per Press AsaorUtion. CHRISTCHURCH, May 8. Clarric Rayner successfully defended the New Zealand professional featherweight championship to-night against the challenge of Percy Hawes in a 15 round contest. The fight went the full distance. Hawes put Rayner down for the count of five soon after the first gong but Rayner recovered from the mishap and won handsomely on points.
