HUNTERVILLE
FOOTBALL. Hunterville seniors scored a victory on the local ground on Saturday by nine points to six, the ground being firm but the ball greasy following heavy rain in tire morning. At half time the scores were even, each side having an unconverted try to its credit. In the second spell however Huntervilla forwards were too strong for their opponents and the game ended with six points in Hunterville s favour. For Hunterville Bartlett scored two and Pritchard one try. Mr. J. Dickson was referee. The thirds, at Flock House, were severely defeated by 37 points to nil. GENERAL NEWS. Mr. J. Dickie, rabbit inspector, commences his annual leave this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. Finn, who have been in charge of the Children’s Home for the past six months, will shortly return home to Petone. A start has been made with the work of levelling the site for the two basketball courts on Hunterville school grounds, the County Council grader being used to prepare the ground. There are dances in plenty this season, each week averaging about three within an easy radius of Hunterville. Mangaonoho Tennis Club held a successful and enjoyable dance in the Poukiore Hall on Friday night, when the attendance was fairly large. Music was supplied by Bramwell’s Orchestra.
