WOMAN CLAIMS DAMAGES COURT MAKES AN AWARD [ Per Press Association. J WELLINGTON, May 7. An accident- on Oriental Parade on the evening of August 26, when three women were struck by a. motor-car from behind and knocked down, had « sequel in the Supreme Court to-dav when Mrs. Janet Scott Beck, of Wellington, sought £940 8s 6d special and general damages from George Joseph Wakem, soft goods manufacturer. Wellington, the driver of the car. Mrs. Beck alleged that the collision i was due to unskilful management and control by defendant of his car. After a retirement of 35 minutes the jury returned a verdict for plaintiff, awarding £350 general and £l4O 8s 6(1 special damages. The Chief Justice said that in his view it was a very just verdict.
