PERSONAL. Airs. Burgin and Aliss Burgin, Auckland, are visiting Rev. E. Burgin. A dance held in Mr. A. Anderson’s woolshed last week by the settlers of Te Kapau, in aid of the Wanganui Free Ambulance, resulted in the sum of £2 being collected. Mr. Ducker left for Palmerston North for the school holidays and Air. Holst left for Wanganui. Airs. Al. Graham is on a visit to Napier. Miss Wright, Norscwood, is visiting Airs. L E. Weston. Air. and Mrs. H. Nash, Kawhatau, have returned from Wanganui. GOLF. Mr. T. Stroud, holed out in one during the week end —a distance of 218 yards. This is the first time a male member has achieved this feat on the local links, Airs. Lou Weston having done the same a few seasons back. R.S.A. The re-union of the R.S.A. was held on Friday evening in me supper-room of the Oddfellows’ Hall. There was a good number of local members present, but owing to counter attractions a good number of the usual visitors were absent. Nevertheless, a very enjoyable evening was speijt. Mr. T. Kirky proposed the toast of the “Town Board,” Air. A. Alillner (chairman) responding; Air. C. A. Warrilow proposed the “Patriotic Society,” Messrs. W. Shaw and L. Ala-honey responding. The toast of the “Honorary Alembers” was proposed by Air. M. Sutherland. Mr. Farrow senr. responding. The toast of the “Nursing Division” was proposed by Air. Farrow junr. Songs were rendered Dy Air. C. A. Warrilow and Air. T. Petherbridge. Air. H. Hawkins presided at the piano. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the president, Air. Hugh Johnston. Much credit is due to Air. T. Kirkby for the capable way he carried out his duties. GUIDES. The Girl Guides held their birthday party on Friday evening and there was a good attendance of visitors from. Tai hape, also parents and friends, and the Boy Scouts. The birthday cake was presented by Mrs. J Glenn, Wanganui. A wonderful tea was prepared by the ladies’ committee and the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Service badges were presented to R. Oulsnam, V. Johnston, R. Loye, N. Alahoney < F. Johnsen. Sick nurse badges were presented to Aliss Crawford (captain). P. Rodewald, V. Johnston, N. Mahoney and R. Loye.
