WAITOTARA

GALA DANCE. A most enjoyable and well attended gala dance was held in the Waitotara Hall on Wednesday evening. A varied programme of dances, coupled with the distribution of carnival hats, streamers, squeakers and the showers of balloons and confetti, produced a carnival spirit. The winners of the Al'onte Carlo one step were Aliss Barrell and Mr. Smith. Air. and Mrs. B. Nixon gave an excellent fox trot exhibition which was greatly appreciated. The music by Babbs’ Hot Rhythm Syncopators was enjoyed and was acclaimed to be one of the finest novelty dance band to visit the district. At 2 a.m. the dance closed, and a number of dancers formed a “snake.’’ jazzing round the floor to the strains of Auld Lang Syne.
