Mrs. W. B. Alexander, Wanganui, has been visiting Auckland. Mrs. J. A. Lee has returned to Wanganui from Wellington, where she atitended the nurses’ reunion. I :: :: ;; Mr. and Mrs. R. Giblin, who have been staying at Kai Iwi, have returned to Wanganui. Mrs. H. R. Beauchamp and family Glasgow Street, leave to-morrow to spend the school vacation at Tokaanu. Mrs. R. L. Thompson, Wanganui East, I has returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss Peggy Shaw, of Inver-argi 11, is the guest of Mrs. 8. Moffatt, Lurie Hill. Miss Ryan, of Wangaehu, has left for Napier, where she will be spending a fortnight’s holiday . Mrs. Alan Hogg, of Wellington, who has been visi'ting her mother, Mrs. G. H. Swan, Gonville, returned on Tuesday. Miss Greta Adams, Victoria Avenue, left on Wednesday on a holiday visit tn Dunedin, where she will be the guest, of Mrs. J. B. Porteous, Roslyn. Mrs. D. Stewart and her sister, Aliss F. Jenkins, leave to-day 'to spend a holiday in Christchurch and Dunedin. Miss Lucille Lisle, the young W*?lington actress, made a good recovery from the operation which she underwent some months ago, and site returned in due course to her part in “The Late Christopher Bea.”..’’ which is still having a great rim at St. .James’ Theatre. London, with Sir C. Hardwicke and Edith Evans playing the tends. (Miss Lisle has a minor part of one of the two daughters of the Welsh doctor, bul she plays it with understanding and marked charm. The Repertory Players’ next bgmday night production will be a comedy by Joan Temple •n--titled “Flowery Walk.” In this Miss Lucille Lisle has a leading part, and others to appear by courtesy of their speetive managements will be Misses Diana Hamilton. Hilary Prichard and Amy Veness; Messrs. Ronald Ward. Basil Radford, and James Raglan. PALAIS DE DANSE A gala night has been arranged for Monday, May 7, when tire Palais de Danse will hold its Second Anniversary Birthday Social and Dance in the Druids’ Hall, which will be specially decorated for the occasion. A programme of items by Wanganui’s leading artists together with old-time ami modern dancing, has been arranged for the enjoyment of patrons. Gigantic Birthday Cake, streamers, balloons, novelties, Monte Carlos, special lucky ticket Monte Carlo, excellent supper and the Gaiety Dance Band, of six instrumental i;its ’n latest numbers, all combine to ensure an enjoyable time.
