WANGANUI_CENTRE SATURDAY’S RESULTS ST. JOHN’S AND WANGANUI. The exceptionally tine weather which Wanganui has been experiencing of late was continued on Saturday, and although the bowling season is drawing to a close there was a good attendance on all the city greens. ST. JOHN’S CLUB An excellent attendance was recorded at the St. John’s green on Saturday, when “friendly” games were played, also the final of the Club Ferns competition, which was won by Glover’s rink, the runners-up being Herd’s rink. WANGANUI CLUB On Saturday the semi-final of the Full Rink Competition was played, with the result that London’s and Bond’s rinks go in to the final, which will be played next Saturday. On Thursday next a visit will be paid by the Marton Club, while on Saturday. April 21, six rings will journey to Feilding. During the afternoon tea adjournment the president, Mr. J. A. Aylmer, took the opportunity of extending the club’s congratulations to Goldstone’s rink, the winner of the Easter tournament. Results of play are as follows: Full Rink Semi-finals. Cooke. Of the leads and skips, J. Gray and Caldwell respectively had the mos* wins, and tworink games of 15 Heads each were played to find the winning two and three. Results:— Full Rinks. Semi-final. Norris, Dann, Raine, Hutchins 19, v. McGregor, Penn, Gillespie, Caldwell 11. Baxter and Bowling a bye. Final. Norris, Baxter, Raine. Hutchins 17. v. McGregor, Penn, Bowling, Caldwell 11. Baxter and Raine were the winning two and three respectively. B Singles. Final. Baxter 19. Tippins 13. The winner, a first-year player, played consistently and kept the lead throughout the game. On the 19th head the score was 15—13 in his favour. A two to Baxter on the 20th gave Tippins four to get to tie on the last head. Ho failed to score, and his attempt to burn the head with his last bowl missed, the game ending as above. This was Baxter’s second win of the day. having previously won the full rinks.
