OBITUARY

MR WALTER MARTIN [ Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, April 6. The death occurred at ChristchuiVh to-day of Mr Walter Martin, aged 80, one of the early settlers of Canterbury. He arrived in New Zealand in 1860 and was employed fo many years in the Department of Justice, until he retired on account of ill-health. For seven years he was Clerk of the District Court and Registrar of the High Court of Western Samoa. Since relinquishing those positions about 1925, he lived in Sydney and Christchurch.
