Championship awards at the Napier Competitions festival were as follow; Vocalists (women): Miss Jean MeGlashan, Hawera; men, Mr Ken Alacaulay, Wellington. Elocution (women): Miss Graeie Kerr, Wellington; Air Walter Hull, Stratford. Runner-up, Air Robert Cheyne, Wellington. Piano: Douglas Lawson, Napier. Dancing (14 to 18 years): Peggy Black, Napier; junior (under 10 years) Dawn Larsen, Wellington.
