FATAL QUARREL
FIGHT OUTSIDE RESTAURANT. [ Per Press Association. J AUCKLAND, April 1. Following a fight outside a restaur ant in Hobson Street, city, shortly after 7 o’clock on Saturday night, a man died from head injuries a few minute., after he fell heavily on the pavement. He was Stephen Walter Carter, 48, labourer, of Freeman : s Bay. A waitress in the restaurant 'said that deceased, accompanied by a native girl, entered tho restaurant for a meftl shortly before seven o’clock. A little later two young men entered and sat at the next table. Toward the end of the meal an argument developed betwen one of the two young men ami deceased, who appeared to bo accpiainted. The discussion became heated and a fight developed outsid" the restaurant. After the fight had been in progress a few minutes, Carter, was seen to fall. It was apparent that he was seriously injured. The two young men disappeared. Carter was taken to the Auckland Hospital, but he was dead on arrival. The police arrested a young man in the city at about It o’clock cn Saturday night
