Afeteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, February 8, 4 p.m. General Situation.—The central area of the cyclone is now located cast of New Zealand and a moderate anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: South-east to southerly, strong in and north of Cook Strait and on the east coast of the South Island, decreasing tonight; elsewhere light te moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of Farewell Spit and Dunedin, later moderating gradually; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Alodcrate to fresh southerly winds, decreasing and later becoming variable; seas moderate. "Weather: Still changeable, with some scattered showers mainly on the East Coast. Improving gradually. Temperatures cool. Phases of the Moon.—Full moon, February 1; last quarter, February 8; new moon, February 15; last quarter, February 22.
