SHORTER HOURS
RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT CANADIAN COMMONS VIEW Received Feb. 6, 8.40 p.m. OTTAWA, Feb. 5. The House of Commons to-day passed a. resolution instructing the Govern ment to consider reducing the hours nf labour as an unemployment relief measure. Members of all parties supported it, generally referring to the fact, however, that the provinces held the right to legislate on th< hours of labour. The former Minister of Labour, Mr, Heenan, laid a charge that “slavi camps” were operated by the Ontaric Government, in which the men re. ceived only a few cents for a month’s work.
