OHINGAITI

WEEK-END CRCKET. Alangaweka cricket team brought their much vaunted reputation to Ohingaiti during the week-end and returned with it slightly damaged, having suffered defeat by a margin of seven runs in a match notable for low scoring. Ohingaiti won the toss and elected to bat commencing to bat at 11.15 a.m. By 11.50 a.m. the side had boon disposed of for 15 runs, J. Jack making top score in two hits, both finding the boundary. Alangaweka’s first innings realised 36 with C. Bunker the only man to make double figures (14). In their second innings Ohingaiti 68, Worsfold 17 and “Air. Extras” 11 being in the lead. Alangaweka could not pass 40 in their second knock and the totals were Ohingaiti 83, Alangaweka 76. A feature of the game was the barracking of the Alangaweka manager and supporters which did more to unnerve the batsmen than did the Ohiugaiti attack.
