ON EARTH, PEACE.
Down the centuries, rings the song of the angels, "On Earth, Peace,” and how in these days of depression and international umest, men long that it would come true. But the angels sang also the conditions of peace—- “ Glory to God in the Highest and on Earth Peace to Men of Goodwill.” If we desire the fruit, we must plant the trees. If we desire peace we must enthrone God in the heart and policies of the nations; we must learn in the school of Jesus to have goodwill toward our fellows. May this Christmas draw us nearer to God and nearer to one another. As Christ comes to us may we find room for Him in the inn of our souls. Christmas is more than a season of merry-making—or at least, it ought to be more. It is a time of worship, of thanksgiving, of the awakening of the heart of man to joy in God for His Divine Gift—Jesus, the Babe of Bethlehem, Son of man and bon of God. As we give and receive gifts may they be symbols of Him who gave Himself for us. ~ Rev. John Paterson, M.A., St. Paul’s Presbyterian.
