EMBARGO ON ORANGES

VICTORIA SEEKS ENTRY. DELEGATES VISIT DOMINION. The export of oranges from South Australia to New Zealand closed with a shipment from Australia last week and negotiations have been opened with the New Zealand Government for the entry of Victorian oranges, states the Melbourne Argus. Ward, superintendent of horticulture in Victoria, returned to Australia last week. Although it was evident that there was a feeling that a greater measure of reciproccity in regard to primary products was desirable, fruit imports from Victoria were discussed solely on their merits. Full consideration was given to the position of Victorian producers, to safeguarding New Zealand citrus growers against disease, and to the further development of overseas markets for New Zealand fruit. The New Zealand Government had conducted all its negotiations with the Commonwealth Government, and, naturany, It could not give any specific undertaking with them as Victorian representatives alone-
