Meteorological Office. Wellington, Sunday, December 17, 4 p.m. General SituatioL'. —Another intense westerly depression crossed the Dominion during Saturday night, and to-day a shallow secondary of cyclonic form has been located over the, eastern Tasman. An extensive anticyclone now covers Australia. Forecast.—Winds: North-westerly at first north of Westport and Koikoura, southerlies thence southwards and becoming general during to-night or to-morrow, moderate to strong and in places reaching gale force. Seas (New' Zealand waters): Rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds and rough to heavy seas. Weather: Un settled, cloudy and misty, with rain in most districts. Some heavy falls likely. Temperatures becoming cold. Phases of Moon.—December: Full moon, December 2; last quarter, December 10; new moon, December 17; first quarter, December 24.
