WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, December 4, 4 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyelono extends over the northern Tas man and the North Island, while the first of a series of westerly depres sions is passing in the South.
Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong north-easterly to northwesterly, rising to gale force in places, especially in and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Bough about Cook anil Foveaux Straits, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate easterly winds, backing to northerly and freshening in the northern portion, with moderate seas. Fresh to strong north-west winds. Rough seas in the southern portion. Weather: Fair to fine in most districts, but clouding over in the western and far southern parts of the South Island, with rain developing shortly. Warm temperatures. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 houi ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine 12 hours. Rainfall, nil. Shade temperatures: Maximum 66 deg. Fahr.; minimum 44 dog. Fahr. Phases of Moon.—December: Full moon, December 2; last quarter, December 10; new moon, December 17; first quarter, December 24.
