The Hon. J. Bitchener, Minister of Public Works, was a guest at Foster's Hotel during th e week-end. The Rev. Ernest Nicholls. of Hastings, has accepted a unanimous call to pastorate of the Ingestre Street Baptist Church. Week-end guests registered at Spriggeas’ Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. L. Johnson, Mr. L. B. Johnson. Mrs. C. Johnson, Mr. H. and AV. Clarkson, Hague Wvlie (Wellington); Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Hiekmott (Sumner); Mr. and Mrs. J. S. McCormick, Mr. R. E. Smith, Mr. D. Adams (Auckland). Before the afternoon's play commenced at the St. John s green on Saturday, the president, Mr. J. F. Wight, referred to the loss the club had suffered through the death of Mr. W. B Lawrie, a very highly esteemed member. At his request players observed a few moments’ siienee as a tribute to Mr. Lawrie's memory. Guests registered at the Rutland Hotel include: —Dr. and Mrs. C.
