MONEY FOR SOUTHLAND

CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS I Ter Press Association. I INVERCARGILL, Dec. 1. That work on the Kingston-Queens-town road should be recommenced at an early date, was the opinion of a conference of the Southland Progressive League and local bodies held today. It was stated that the Government, through tho Transport Board, could limit the vehicles using the new road to those engaged in passenger traffic. This would allay tho fears that tho railway service would be doomed were the road completed.

The conference also passed a remit urging that every endeavour be made to bring about the reinstatement of the Bluff-Melbourne passenger service at the earliest date. It was contended that the reinstatement of this service was most essential in Southland’s interests more so as the Melbourne centenary is to be held next, year.
