RAETIHI
GENERAL. The Borough Council agreed to inspect the motor camping grounds next Tuesday with a view to making further improvements for the coming season. Last month only four head of stock were impounded for being at large on ihe borough roads. There were two cows, one horse and one bull. The chairman of the Works Committee informed the council on Thursday that more men were needed on the erection of a tunnel instead of repairing the bridge on the Parapara Road, and it was probable that some of the men who were working “over the fence’’ would have to be cant’d in. A start has been made with improvements to the saleyards in Seddon Street and some of the relief workers arc employed on this job, which when completed will be of service to the farmers of the district. The Public Works Department intend to make a start with the metalling again on the Mangacturoa Road early next week.
