Mr. Arthur Henderson’s return to Parliament is practically assured through the Clay Cross Labour Party selecting him to contest the vacancy caused by Mr. C. Duncan’s death. At the General Election of 1931 the figures were: C. Duncan (Lab.) 21,163, J. Weenberg (L. Nat.) 11,611. DISARMAMENT CONFEREN RETAINING CHAMPIONSHIP. Received July 31. 7.30 p.m. LONDON, July 31. la connection with his adoption as Labour candidate for the Clay cross byelection. Mr. Henderson says he is not abandoning the chairmanship of the Disarmament Conference, but is doing his best to end the conference this year.
