GOLF. Lady golfers from Patea, Wanganui, Maxwell and Hawcra, as well as local players arc expected on the local Jinks to-day when the Wavcrley Club are holding an all-day tournament. On Wednesday afternoon, a team of Wavcrley ladies journeyed to Patea and played the return match of the season, resulting in a win for AVaverley by a close margin. Weather conditions helped to make the game an enjoyable one. and the afternoon’s match was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Following arc the results, with the names of Patea players mentioned first:— Misses K. Hurley and P. Bourke lost to Mesdmes Lupton and Handley; Misses N. Hurley and G. Taylor lost to Alisses Train and Mathieson; Alcsdames Harris and Crawford lost to Airs. R. P. Palmer and Miss Boer; Mcsdames Crompton and Wither lost to Airs. Johnston and Miss Baker; Alisses F. Power and Carey won from Airs. Grey and Airs. Lupton; Miss Crawford and Airs. Haddow won from Mcsdames Aiken and Currie; Mesdarnes Drummond and Donald won from Mrs. Blackiston and Aliss AlcGregor; Alisses O’Sullivan and Honeyfield halved with Aliss Lupton and Mrs. Bowden; Misses Kiihfuss and Wybourne lost to Aliss Graham and Airs. Graves; Airs. Alitehell and Aliss Davidson won from Alisses Campbell and N. Palmer; Aliss Hammerton and Mrs. Maxwell lost io Alisses A. Lupton and Alathieson; Alisses Shield and Gibbings won from Misses Aiken and Alathieson. Totals: Paton live games; Wavcrley six games; one halved. HUNTING. Owner-members of the. Egmont AVanganui Hunt Club are preparing their mounts for the Point-to-point Steeplechase which is to be hold to-morrow week, Saturday, July 22 This, with the annual ball to be held the night before, July 2.1, marks the close of the hunting season, with the exception of the master’s hunt the following -Saturday, July 29. Thus, there is only one more meet of hounds before the point-to-point, that to be held to-mor-row. This more or less lasi meet of the season will be at "Wairoa," the home of Mr. G. A'. Pearce. AVaitolara, and promises to be as popular a hunt as ever.
