CHURCH OF CHRIST MISSION
“WASTE OF HUMAN LIFE.” Basing his sermon on the story o.f the life of Jezebel and how common is the tragedy of throwing our powers away, Mr. Harry L. Bell said last night at the Church of Christ Mission, Ingostre Street: “I have watched great rivers, tearing across a continent on their rush to the ocean, that turn few wheels and contribute little or nothing to the running of the machinery of the world. I have seen Niagaras spending themselves in thunder, but tho most terrible waste that God or men ever looked upon is the waste of human life. Ah, what wonderful possibilities are locked up in tho lives of you who are listening to me to-night. And yet. some of you are going to throw yourselves away! “It would seem that in many ways a woman is naturally stronger than a man in matters of religion. 1 have met many women who are loyal and consecrated to God and the Church whoso husbands are indifferent and sometimes antagonistic. And yet these brave women keep on undaunted. But how rare it is to find a man like that who will hold on when his wife is not in sympathy with his faith and loyalty to the Church? I have seen a little butterfly of a society girl, whose weight morally was about that of a bubble, quench the zeal of a strong man and turn him away from his Church and his Lord. “The law of moral retribution works ruthlessly as does the law of gravitation. Sow tares, and tares will be you” harvest. You cannot escape that fact. It will work in your case and in mine. ‘Be not deceived, God is not 1 mocked, whatsoever a man soweth that will he also reap.’ The field is yours. What you sow determines your harvest. ’ ’ To-night at 7.30 Mr. Bell will answer the question, “Can a Man be Saved out of the Church?” Preparation will be made so that everyone may be seated.
