PERSONAL. Air. W. G. Jones is at present in Wanganui where he is staying with his brother, Air. A. Jones, Wanganui East. Air. I’. Clarkson and her baby son have returned to Shannon after spending a holiday with her parents, Air. and Airs. E. F. Hemingway. Rev. and Airs. Walton arc at present • in Wellington, where Rev. Walton is attending the Anglican Synod. Air. Brian Walton continued from Wellington. to Waitaki, where he is attending tho Waitaki Boys’ High School jubilee. Air. C. R. Honcyfield motored through to New Plymouth last Wednesday, when ho attended the funeral of his cousin, Air. J. Honcyfield. Aliss C. Honcyfield, of Wellington, is visiting her mother, Airs. Honeyfield, “Egnwnt View.” Aliss S. Roberts is at present spending the holidays with her parents, Air. and Airs. T. E. Roberts, during the vacation of the Auckland University College. Aliss Gibbs, of Paeroa, is visiting Patea and is the guest of Afrs. R. Al. Stevens. Aliss R. Honeyfield motored through to Raetihi early in tho week, visiting her grandmother,,Afrs. Wright. GOLF. There was practically a full muster of lady members of tho Patea Golf Club on the links on Wednesday last, when glorious weather induced many to take part in the flag match. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Several Waverley golfers were visitors to the links also. Aliss L. Carey won the flag match, taking her flag, to the edge of the I9th green, with Aliss K. Hurley second, some distance behind. Air. A. B. Currie h .s added his name to those who have “holed in one” among the club members. He accomplished this unenviable feat last weekend, holing out at the second green, “The Lake.’’ Airs. Al. Crawford, E. Haris and G. Wills are the only, other I members who have accomplished this hole in one, while Rev. Hegarty holed in one at ‘‘Dead Easy.” BOY SCOUTS. Arrangements for the camp which commenced last Wednesday were made at a meeting of the Patea Boy Scouts’ committee last Tuesday, the Mayor (Air. F. Rainsbottom) presiding. Some 20 Scouts left on Wednesday for Stratford. ’ Reports were received as follow: The Rev. A. W. Smaill reported that in company with the chairman, Scoutmaster, and two Cubmistresses, he had visited Eltham, when arrangements were made for tho camp. They had been assured that tho boys from Patea would be met at Eltham and well looked after whilst in camp. They were all pleased to find that a new troop had been formed in Waverley. The camp was to have been started on Monday, but in view of tho stato of the weather, it had been decided to postpone the opening of the camp. He had visited the camp site that day when in Stratford, and they had decided that the Patea boys go into camp on the 10th inst. Eight members of the local troop would attend the camp. Tho Scoutmaster, Air. H. S. Pauling, reported that since the last meeting they had had .five parades and had attended the Anzae parade and had laid a wreath on the local war memorial. Thanks were due to Alcsdames Shield, Drummond, Hemingway, and Smaill for

donations of flowers for the wreath. Two boys, E Richards and W. Davidson, had passed their examinations for second-class Scouts with first-class honours. A visit had been paid to the boys by Mesdames Alasters and Lester, members of the committee.
