SUCCESSFUL SHOW
ALL RECORDS BROKEN. SUBURBAN SOCIETY’S REPORT. Record entries and attendance combined to make the recent autumn show held by the Wanganui Suburban Society the most successful of its short career. Entries numbered 463, while individual exhibitors showed an increase of 50 per cent, over any previous show during the five years of the society’s activities. Despite the inclemency of the weather 800 people paid for admission, double the number at any previous show, indicating that the reduction in price' was successful in appealing to the public. These facts were received with utmost satisfaction when the secretary, Mr. W. J. Guildford, reported to the committee last Tuesday evening. He laid before them a report and statement of receipts and expenditure. The fact that a profit Lad been made on the show was specially gratifying. He stated that the interest displayed in the children's garden circle was evident from the number of very fine blooms shown in their classes and considered that the work done by the society in fostering interest among the children promised well for the future. The secretary also eulogised the work done by the committee, whose energetic and hearty co-operation had helped to make a success of the undertakings. At short notice the ladies’ committee, with the assistance of volunteers, not even members of the society, did fine work in connection with, the stalls and tearooms.
