MANGAWEKA

RIFLE SHOOTING. A team of Apiti riflemen visited Mangaweka on Wednesday last and shot a match against a team from the local club. Some keen shooting was in evidence, tho local team emerging the winners with a total of 896 points to 849. The individual results wore:—

896 R.S.A. MEETING. A most enthusiastic meeting of the Mangaweka Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the Scddon Memorial room on Thursday evening. A letter was received from the Taihape branch of the R.S.A. stating that the poppies would be sold to the local branch at cost price. The annual subscription was fixed at 5s per member. A committee was farmed as follows to foster athletics:—Messrs. M. Ginnane, J. F. Johnson, W. Culman. P. Reiley, T Kirkley and H. Johnston. The following new members were enrolled:—Messrs. E. Robb, G. Bramley, G. Green, V. Reiley and M. Ginnane. PERSONAL. Mrs. Withers, of Palmerston North, is visiting Mangaweka and is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. S. Dickinson. Mrs. F. Heise is visiting friends in Palmerston North. Miss Rapson is spending the school vacation with her parents in Auckland. Mrs. T Kirkley is spending a short holiday in New Plymouth.
