That the death of Arthur John Ibbotson, a builder aged 62, following an accident near the Town Hall in December was caused by the negligence of a motor-cyclist and the drive: of a motor-car was the view taken by the jury on the issues put to it at the conclusion of the trial in. the Supreme Court to-diy. An action for compensation was brought on behalf of the widow, Ada Elizabeth Ibbotson. The jury further held that Ibbot son was not guilty or contributory negligence, and awarded £lO5O as com pensation. The defendants were Lance, God frey Edwin Barnes, motor-cyclist, an* 1 Tom Gordon Gault, motor mechanic, owner of the motor-car which at the time of the accident was being driven by another man. Mr. Justice Ostler said he would not enter judgment in the meantime so as to enable counsel for the defen dants to go into the question of whether it was considered worth while arguing a nonsuit point further.
