TARIFF REVISION
COMMISSION APPOINTED [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, May 10. The Hon. J. G. Coates announced today that the following had been ap- 1 pointed a commission to revise the tariff in accordance with the Ottawa agreement: Mr. Craig (Comptroller of chairman; Professor B. E. Murphy, Mr. J. B. Gow (Opotiki), and Mr. G. A. Pascoe (Christchurch). The Commission’s order of reference is defined as follows: “To inauire into the Customs tariff of New Zealand and to recommend for consideration by the Government any alterations therein, having regard to existing trade agreements to which New Zealand is a party, and particularly to tho agreement concluded at Ottawa in 1932 between His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, to the financial, economic and industrial conditions in the Dominion, to tho reasonable requirements of local industries which are being conducted tn an efficient manner and are economically justifiable, and to all other relevant considerations.” The proceedings will be open to tho public.
