EAGLE FIGHTS AN AIRMAN
BIRD KILLED BY DAGGER A pilot iu lhe air mail service, Annibale Pecoroui, returned recently to Trieste with the body of an eagle which he slew after a desperate buttle in mid-air. He said that he passed the eagle while flying with mails from Trieste to Zara. On his return journey, having mi luggage or passengers he decided to fly round in search ot the eagle, and sighted it again neai The airman drew a revolver, ano then the eagle swooped down uu the machine ami a grim light began. Pecu roni shot, the eagle several times an<: the bird, enraged by its wounds, made repeated attacks on its assailant. When it came io (dose quarters, Pecoron stabbed it with his. dagger ami it. fol. dying to the earth. The airman, win was slightly hurt in the battle, landm to lake his trophy on board. Tin machine was not damaged.
