Unable to discover an acceptable course of action for procedure, the committee of the Disarmament Conference adjourned after strenuous efforts had been made to persuade Germany to abandon her opposition to standardised armies, which is an essential par of tho British plan. TOO MUCH ASKED THE GERMAN VIEWPOINT. NO WILFUL OBSTRUCTION. Received May 9, 9.25 o.m. BERLIN, May 9. The War Minister, Herr Blomberg, in a statement to the Press, denied that Germany was wilfully obstructing tho Disarmament Conference. He declared that the proposal to impose the French system of short-service militia, ignored tho interests of the Reich, which could not be expected to switch over from an army with a 12-ycar period of service to one of only nine months. The time for dictating to the Reich was now over. Her attitude would would depend dn the extent of the disarmament by other nations. Germany would come to no decision until that was known. Mr. MacDonald, in tho House of Commons. said that he had never considered whether he should or should not return to the {Disarmament Conference. Press statements that the matter was discussed by Cabinet were without foundation.
