WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, May 9, 4 p.m. General Situation.—There is little change in the situation. Pressure is very low to the east of New Zealand while an anti-cyclone covers Australia and the south-west Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Between south-west and south, moderate to strong mainly, but still reaching gale force in places; decreasing somewhat. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds to gales and rough seas, but moderating somewhat. Weather: Still cold and squally with scattered showers at times in many districts. Hail in places and snow on the ranges. Some improvement, however, is likely, especially in western districts. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday. Bright sunshine, 6 hours 10 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Shades temperature: Maximum, 58 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 42 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon.—May: First quarter. May 3. Full moon, May 11; Last quarter, May 17; New' moon, May 24.
