ARRESTED AS SPY
CRICKETER’S ORDEAL. Roy Sheffield, the Essex wicket keeper, who returned home a few weeks ago from South America, where he has been spending the winter, was arrested, in Para on suspicion of being a spy. Mr Sheffield stated that, afte> staying on a ranch near the Bolivia: border, where he did a good deal of cattle-punching, he was asked to take some papers to a Bolivian official som> distance down the river. He delivered them through a messenger, but at the next stop was detained and taken be fore a military Court. After being questioned he was released. Mr. Sheffield played cricket al Buenos Aires, making scores of 95 an J iGO, and was appointed umpire for th* North v. South match, the most import ant in Argentina.
