SPIVAKOVSKY—KURTZ TRIO.
On Thursday, May 18, Wanganui music-lovers will have a unique opportunity of hearing three of Europe’s notable musicians in one programme at tho Opera House. This .will be on the occasion of the concert of the Skiva-kovsky-Kurtz trio. This combination is not a trio in the ordinary acceptance of the term, but a union of solists of the very first rank, each of whom had an established reputation in many countries. The trio came together at the request of Wolff and Sachs, the well-known Berlin entrepreneurs, who were anxious to replace the disbanded Thibaud-Cortot - iCasaias combination. The first season was an experimental one in Holland, and was immediately successful, leading to bookings throughout Germany and other European countries. The critic of the Berliner Tage-
blatt hailed the new trip as “a very notable addition to the musical life of I Europe. . . How well deserved was the 'enthusiasm which they aroused. One does not know which to pra'.se more, their brilliant technique or Their amaz, ing depth of musical feeling. Each is a master of his instrument, and what a master.” Box plan opens at the Bristol on Monday. May 15.
