ENGLISH MODES
Metal slides, clips and rings arc among the newest ornaments for an evening dress, writes a London correspondent. They are used on shoulder straps and those other straps which are frequently the only form of back an evening gown possesses. The new irregular collars which grow from a band of fur on one side of the neck to cape dimensions on the opposite side are seen on coats made to accompany silk afternoon gowns, as well as on tweed models. Lace frocks are smart and inexpensive. Tho lacquered treatment is applied to laces as well as to fabrics. Others with tho ordinary dull surface are also used. A graceful dress of black lace has a flared skirt and a three-quarter length coat bordered with black fur. Wide side panels of black lace are used on a black georgette dress; the bodice is entirely of lace, and a three-quarter length coat has the sleeves and hem bordered with the plain material.
