The annual meeting of the Sandon | Old Boys’ Association was held on Saturday night. Mr. O. C. Ellerm presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet, which disclosed a small credit balance, was read and adopted. The president (Mr. O. C. Ellerm), in his address, made feeling reference to the passing of Mr. L. Bishop, one of the older pupils of the school, and also the passing of three old residents of the district, Mrs. C. L. Anderson, Mrs. E. Wilcock, and Mr. F. 'Verry, all of whom had taken a keen interest in the well-being of this association. As a mark of respect all stood in silence. The president, continuing, said that all knew there had been some talk of the association ceasing to function, as it was thought that it had, perhaps, had its day, and that the younger generation were not coming forward to accept their responsibilities as members. At the last annual meeting, at which there was a large attendance of young members, it was resolved to carry on with tho annual re-union on a slightly different plan. Socially, the re-union was a decided success, it being one of the best of recent years. Mr. J. C. Fagan said the president’s report was an inspiration to the younger members present.

Mr. W. J. Croucher, speaking as one of the older members, congratulated the president on his comprehensive report, and expressed appreciation of the cooperation of the younger members, with whose assistance they had been able to balance the budget. Mr. ■Croucher expressed appreciation of the fact that it was the first occasion a Press representative had been present and he hoped they would again be favoured with the excellent publicity given them through the Press last year. A notice of motion, “That the name be changed from the Sandon Old Boys’ Association to that of the Sandon Old Pupils’ Association,’’ was proposed by Mr. E. J. Bowater. The motion was opposed by Mr. AV. J. Croucher, who said the association had been formed in July, 1905, and he was not aware of any expressed wish of old girls to attend general meetings. After much discussion a proposition by Mr. D. Hammond, “That an effort be made during the annual social and by otherwise ascertaining the views of old pupils as to the advisability of changing the name of the association, such information to be reported back to the next annual meeting,” was carried. Mr. C. Eglinton proposed that Air. W. J. Crouches, as a founder of the association. be elected a life inenibfc. Air. H. J. Fagan and Mr. E. J. Bowater spoke in support and the motion was carried unanimously. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Air. G. Levy; president, Air. W. J. Croucher; vice-presidents, Alessrs. C. E. Eglinton, N.
