WEDDING SIGLEY—KEUCKE On Thursday afternoon the Raetihi Presbyterian Church was the scene of a pretty wedding w r hen Valerie, elder daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. A. V. Keucke, was married to Kenneth, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Sigley. Rev. E. C. Farr was the officiating minister and the church was prettily decorated. The bride wore a frock of satin beaute trimmed with the reverse side of the material. Her veil of Brussels net was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and red rosebuds. She was attended by Misses Nelk, Jordan, Effie Keucke and Jean Sigley as bridesmaids, who wore frocks of apple green frilled organdie with gold velvet sashes dna autumn-tinted posies. The bridegroom was attended by Messrs. P. Drayton, Ivor Moss and Laurie Keucke as best man and, groomsmen. The bride’s travelling costume was of dark green crepe tweed with felt hat and stole. After the ceremony the wedding breakfast was held at Keucke’s tearooms, when a large number sat down and the usual toasts were duly honoured and best wishes expressed for the future happiness of the young couple. The bride’s mother received her guests wearing a lido blue celanese frock with hat to match, and grey stole, and carried a bouquet of sweet peas and rosebuds. The bridegroom s mother wore a navy frock of floral woollen morocain with hat to tone and fox fur and her bouquet was of autumn tints and rosebuds. A large number of presents testified to the popularity of the young couple.

At the smoke concert held on Thursday evening in honour of Mr. A. Perrett, social items were contributed by the following:—Messrs. D. Kelly, J. Tierney, W. O’Connor, A. P. Batley, F. MeSweeney, F. Gledhill, C. Cherry, P. E. Wakeman, N. Batchelor, E. Loader, R. McCarthy, J. T. Coutts, J. Baird, J. Bridson, S. Beban, Dr. Kronfield.
Pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mr. I. Parkes. The function was exceptionally well controlled by Mr. A. P. Batley, who discharged the duties of chairman in a manner that left, nothing to be desired. Mr. D. Kelly’s recitations entitled “Rum and Water.” and “The Dead Beat Politician,” were delivered with fine expression and pleasing restraint. The friends of Mr. J. Niven will regret to learn of the death of his mother, which occurred on Friday, at the age of 7!) years. The funeral will .be held nt 1.45 p.m. to-day (Monday).
