LAWN TENNIS

PLAY IN EGYPT EXNEW ZEALANDER WINS A former prominent New Zealand lawn tennis player, the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, managing director of a big English sports company, with his partner, H. Shukri, was successful recently in winning tho doubles championship of Egypt. As far back as 1897 Mr. Fisher won the singles championship of his college. To capture a national championship event 36 years later is probably a record. A Cairo newspaper states: —This victory was no “flash in the pan,” for in the last half-year Mr. Fisher fought out the final of the doubles championship of Austria and won both open and combined doubles at Como. At Lucerne he and Brugnon defeated the German pair, von Cramm and Kleinsehroth.
