LARGE SUM TAKEN. ACCUSED’S STATEMENT. [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, April 26. Stated to have had control in handling of approximately £60,000 yearly as cashier at the Wellington office of the Huddart Parker Company, Archibald James Glen, aged 39, pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to-day to stealing £3618 18s 2d from the company. The evidence showed that the defalcations had taken place over a period of five years. When questioned by the manager of the company, accused had made a confession. In his statement accused said that he had received only £4 12s Id weekly. Sickness in his home had involved him in expense and his position in ’the company compelled him to live on a higher scale than the salary provided for. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
