LADIES’ HOCKEY CLUB. There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the above, Mr. F. Gabites presiding A report presented showed that the past year had teen quite successful. A team was entered in the competition and several games were won. Two teams were entered in the Sevcn-a-side games at Feilding and Marton, and an eleven-a-side at Halcomtte. At Marton and A team were rgnners-up in their section. Five of the members of the team gained representative honours. The club’s thanks are due to the chaperones, Mesdames A. and R. JGlasgow, and also to Mesdames Donaldson. Glasgow and Messrs. McLean and Jones. Friendly games were played with the Katana Ladies’ Club which provided excellent practice for the members. Special thanks are due to Messrs. Gabites and McLean for coaching the team, also to Messrs McKoy and Smart and Mogridge, for coming from Marton to give lectures. Several dances wore held during the year and were a success both socially and financially. During the vear one of our members was married and our best wishes for her future happiness arc extended to her. Congratulations to Miss Teki who has made her name on the neld of sport. Last but not least, our thanks are duo to’our i-aptain, Mrs. Me’ an, who has done everything possible for tne girls both at home and away. ” The balance-sheet showed a credit 1 balance of 12s Bd. Sims, AleLean. Misses Sims, Al. Fitches, Clark, Alessrs. McLean, R. J. Glasgow and F. Gabites, Mrs. Orr; secretary, Miss Al. Glasgow; chaperones, Mesdames A. Glasgow and R. J. Glasgow; delegates to Oroua sub-Union, Alessrs. R. J. Glasgow and F. Gabites; club captain, Mrs. McLean. A vote of thanks was accorded Mi. AV, Glasgow for kindly allowing the club the use of his grounds. At a committee meeting held subsequent! v it was decided to have the an--1 nual dance on Wednesday. April 19. Details with regard to music, supper, etc., were arranged. It was decided to enter a team for the Lind field Rose Bowl Competition on the 19th. inst. and seven will be selected from the following:—Mrs. AlcLean, AL Glasgow, Af. Sims, Al. Fitches, 11. Teki, J. Glasgow, A. Conder, Airs. Simpson. It was decided to have a weekly practice on Saurday afternoons from 2 to 1 p.m A ground committee was appointed to mark out the grounds and erect goals. ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH. The Harvest Festival was celebrated in St. George’s Church, Turakina, on Sunday evening in the presence of a good congregation. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The service was conducted by Alessrs. Winstanloy and Newman, layreaders of Alarton. St. Stephen’s Choir, Marton, also assisted at the service under the direction of Air. Raynor White and added in a great measure to the solemnity of the occasion. The usual offerings of fruit and vegetables were forwarded to the Children’s Home. Palmerston I North. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Plunket Society. Turakina branch, was held at St. Andrew’s Hall, on Tuesday, the 4th. There was a fair attendance of members presided over by Airs. Marshall. The report represented by the nurse showed that good work had been done. The financial statement s’ A d a credit balance of nearly £35. Election of officers for the ensuing year:— President, Air.
