STATE OF THE MARKETS Received April 7, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, April 6. Butter is in rather better demand. Danish, 90s to 92s per cwt.; choicest salted New Zealand, 66s to 675; Australian, 64s to 655. Unsalted butter is Is to 2s premium The cheese market is quiet. New Zealand white is selling at 38s to 39s per cwt., and coloured at 465. Australian white cheese sells at 375, and coloured at 445. Private Advices A. >S. Patorsvn and Co., Ltd., advise having received, to-day cable advice from J. and J. Lonsdale and C'->. (L<m don), Ltd., as follows: “Buttei: Mar ket dull. New Zealand, 66s 6d; Australian, 6us. Cheese: Market quiet. White 38s, coloured 45s to 465.” Messrs. A. J. Mills and Co., London April 6, cable: ‘‘Butter market is steady, cheese market also steady. ‘ Prices of New Zealand butter are given as follows; Finest, 665; first, 655. Argentine butter. 62s lo 665. Canadian white cheese 645, and coloured 64s to 665. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd. have received from Trengrouse and Nathan, Ltd., London, the following tdvice, dated April 6: "New Zealand butter. 66s per cwt.; New Zea'and cheese, white 38s, coloured 4Gs. Both bette.' demand. ’ ’ Samuol Page and Son, London, 6, report to Dalgety and Co. as follows: “Butler market is dull and lower. Cheese market has rather more inquiry at this end of the week.” LOW BUTTER PRICES CONTINUE. CHEESE MARKET WEAKER. No change has taxon place in the butor market, and trie latest London cables report that quotations are still at the record low level of 66s per cwt. The market is stated to be steadier. Cheese prices show a weakening tendency, white being quoted at 37s per cwt., as against 38s 24 hours previously. Coloured has also declined by Is to 45s per cwt. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., have received from their principals, Alessrs. Trengrouse and Nathan, Ltd., London. 1 the following cabled advice, dated April s:—New Zealand butter, 66s per cwt.: steadier. New Zealand cheese, white 37s per cwt., coloured 455; quiet. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following advice from their Loudon house, dated April 5 (last week’s figures in parentheses):—Butter: New Zealand choicest salted. 66s per cwt. (68s). Cheese: White, 37s to 38s per cwt. (40s); coloured, 4Gs per cwt (48s); market slow. A H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., have received cabled advice dated April 5 from their principals, W. Wedel and Co., Ltd., London, as follows: —Danish butter, 87s to 88s; New Zealand, finest. 64s to 665; Kangaroo, 02s to 645. New Zealand white cheese, 38s; New Zealand coloured, 45s to 465. Market weak owing to slow demand. Messrs. Henry A. Lane and Co., Ltd Hawera, yesterday received the follow’ ing cabled market report from their London office: New Zealand cheese, white, 38s: coloured, 455. Market unsettled. New Zealand butter:, 67?. Market weak, prospects uncertain.
