REGIMENTAL NOTES
WELLINGTON WEST COAST Though ibe Wellington West Coast Regiment does not go into camp until February 11. arrangements have been practically finalised in preparation for the event. The unit will again go into camp with the Taranaki Regiment and with the two units it is anticipated that there will be approximately 400 under canvas. Wanganui details leave by the 8.20 a.m. train on February 11, while Feilding and Marton details travel by the trains leaving Feilding at 7.20 a.m. on date. An advance party with the adjutant, quartermaster and R.Q.M.S., and 10 details will leave by the 8.20 a.m. train on Wednesday t February 8. Names of those desirous of joining the advance party are now being taken. Training in camp will consist mostly of machine gun and light automatic work, with a considerable amount of “ball” firing. If satisfactory nrogress is made and time permits, it is hoped to have an inter-battalion sports meeting between the two units. On Saturday last the unit fired its annual rifle match against the 5/7th. Ba. The Hampshire Regiment, the best sixteen scores to count. Many of the most promising rifle shots in the regiment were absent and the conditions on the day were not the best as a very strong wind was blowing. The W.W.C. Regiment score was 628 as against 832 by the 5/7th. Bn. The Hampshire Regiment. Parades for this month are: November 21, N.C.O.’s only; November 22, officers class only.
