SANDON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The open night arranged by the local branch of the AVomen’s Institute attracted a good attendance at the public hall on Saturday night. The programme was a good one and most of the items were recalled. Airs. A. K. Drew extended a welcome to all and the evening commenced with singing the Institute song. Air. J. Currie led a community sing, which was heartily enjoyed. Contributors to the programme were Miss Dwyer (voca] solo), Mr. J. Currie (humorous song), Air. A. Pedersen (recitation), Molly and Nelson Butler (vocal duct). Members of the Bulls branch presented a playette entitled “Aunt Lizzie” and the Taikorea branch presented “The Doctor’s Patient.” Both items were well received, the principals being recalled for their efforts. A pleasant and enjoyable evening
was concluded with another short community sing, after which a dainty supper was served. Mrs. A. K. Drew returned thanks to all who had assisted in making the evening the success it had been.
