MOTORS FOR NEW ZEALAND

RUSH ORDER AFTER OTTAWA. "BUY BUTTER IX RETURN.’’ LONDON, Sept. 9. Forty all-British motor-cars which have been made in fulfilment of a rush order received shortly after the Ottawa Conference were loaded in the Tainui and the Port Gisborne at King George V. Dock in London this week. The motor-cars, made by Hillman’s of Coventry, were sent to the docks on motor-lorries and trailers. Each crate bore a largo placard reading:—“Rush order following the Ottawa Conference; British cars for New Zealand; buy New Zealand butter and cheese in return.” They passage through London created lively interest.

Captain W. F. Strickland, M.P. for Coventry, was present at the loading of the cars and was presented Ndairymaids with a gift of butter, cheese and other dairy produce sent by Dominion farmers through the New Zealand Dairy Produce Importers’ Association. In a letter accompanying the gift, the association congratulated Coventry manufacturers on their prompt execution of the order, and expressed the hopo that it foreshadowed a speedy development, of that promising infant, th© British motor-car export trade to New Zealand. “A continuance of the splendid willingness of the British public to buy New Zealand butter and cheese,” continued the letter, “is the surest way to expand the capacity of the Dominion to buy British goods.
