STOCK MARKETS

SALES OF THE WEEK. 'flic Panners’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., rc- < port as follows: — Welcome rains during the week hav had a beneficial effect upon the pasture, and there is an abundance of feed in most of the districts. This has hud a. good effect on the stock market generally, and the keen demand for nearly all classes of stock still, continues. Dairy bulls and springers have been occupying most of the attention of buyers- Both pedigree and grade bulls would seem to be in short supply and prices for good sorts must be very gratifying to vendors. In this connection, we held a most successful sale on account of Mr. 8. C. Mcßae at our Kakaramea yard on October 8. The entry came forward in splendid order, and were of excellent quality. There was an especially large attendance of buyers present, which goes to prove the popularity of this annual function. Dairy cattle still continue to demand good prices when the quality of the stock coming forward for sale is taken into consideration. Yearling heifers, mostly of only medium quality, are meeting with ready sales at slightly increased prices on last week. Fat sheep, which are becoming more plentiful, have fallen somewhat in value, and we predict a further drop in sympathy with the Home market. Very few lines of ewes and lambs have changed hands, and we do not anticipate much business in this connection until a definite price is fixed for our fat lambs. Run cows have taken a decided rise and more business has been done during the week in this class of stock than for a number of months. Paddock cows are selling well and anything that will fatten in the very near future are selling freely. THE MARTON SALE Associated Live Stock Auctioneers, Ltd., report having a fair entry of sheep, with a good yarding of pigs, springing dairy heifers and yearling Jersey heifers, all of which met with keen competition, and we have to report almost a total clearance at prices satisfactory to vendors. Prices realised were:— Sheep: Woolly wether hoggets, 9s 2d, 10s, to Ils; aged ewes with 100 per cent. b.f. lambs at foot, Ils 6d to 12s 6d; woolly fat ewes, 8s Id, 9s 6d to 10s lOd.
