Brown is the West Coast harrier champion and West Coast threemile champion. He defeated R. A. Rose by 6see. for the Taranaki title held at Stratford last Saturday. B. A. Bose is the cx-Ncw Zealand cross-country champion, holder of the New Zealand mile record, and a runner of great note. He is said to be striking his old form. H. S. Kingston represented the West Coast Centro at last year’s harrier championships. He finished third in last Saturday’s Taranaki championships. L. E. Fox has also represented the West Coast at, last year’s championships. He is fourth man in the Taranaki team. R. B. Walsham has represented Taranaki before at the West Coast championships, and finished fifth in Taranaki championships. R. J, Smith was presented with a '‘handsome rose bowl” at Stratford last Saturday on his achieving championship honours. The Taranaki B team has the looks, on paper, of having material which should see the members well in at the finish. Thompson is the best of the bunch, while Robertson has also had a good deal of experience. The Marton Harrier Club, newly formed this season, has entered one team, a B team. The outstanding member of the Marton team is D. Smith, holder of the Wanganui Sub-centre mile championship. The rest are mainly new cross-country runners. C. Weller has been running very well this season. It will be interesting to see how he compares with Brown and Rose. H. K. Johnson is 'holder of the Wanganui Club title. He should be one to be reckoned with to-day. G. Johnston, who with well and his brother, K. Johnston, represented the West Coast at the New Zealand championships last year, ought to be well up at the finish. Northover. Bourgeois and Collings form a good backbone for the Wanganui A team. All have been running consistently this season. The Wanganui 81. and B2 teams, although not up to the standard of the A team, arc good pack runners, and, as they are of equal strength either team should give a good account of itself.
