FOOTBALLERS’ BALL. A PRONOUNCED SUCCESS. Nut since the final carnival night two years ago has there been such a “joy night” in Ohiugaiti as was provided by the Footballers’ Ball on Friday last. A record crowd, bent on banishing all care, and gloom-chasing music, combined in making the night one to Re well remembered. Over 120 couples danced to excellent music supplied by the River City Syncopators and kept the fun going until 3 a.m. As a result of a function more successful than the most sanquine expected, the funds of the football club will benefit considerably. To Mrs. W. H. Wynne and her willing help rs, among whom were Mcsdamos Bartlett, Henderson, Goodwin, Alackic, Thompson and Warsiold, more than ordinary credit is due I®r the excellence of th<» supper ar rangements, there being plenty for all, quality and service being beyond re proach. The tasteful d. curations wore the work of Messrs R. and N. Bartlett, G. Mackie, 1. Linton and L. ami J. Henderson. Alcssrs A. Charles, W. D. Davies, A. Linton and W. Nclmes, acted as M’sc 1 ., and the secretary was Mr. R. Bartlett. Extras were * played by Misses Shackleton (Poukioro}, Wright (Mangaweka), and Messrs R. Jnder (Hunterville) ami A. Linton. During the evening, trophies for novelty dances were won t»y Aliss Rutherford ami Mr. Ritchie, Aliss i’aget and Air. Barrell and Mrs. Harford and Air. Signal. Many visitors attended from Taihape, Mangaweka, Hunterville, Palmerston North, Waituna, Wanganui, Rangiwahia and surrounding districts, ami among those present were noticed:— Mesdamcs W.
