WAITOTARA
RUGBY FOOTBALL P.W.D. V. WAITOTARA On Saturday Waitotara travelled up tin river to Pinnui to play P.W DAfter an even, hard-fought game P.Wb. emerged victors by 14 to 8The play was very hard —several times verging on roughness—and one player was carried off after twenty minutes’ play. After this game it looks as though either Public Works or Waitotara are capable of upsetting the leaders, Waverley, before the competition concludes. For Waitotara Tamou scored in the corner after a brilliant cut-in and solo dash. R. Tennant converted with a fine kick from the side line. Tennant also converted a penalty from the side line near half-way with an other beautiful kick. For Waitotara JSoloman played his usual safe, heady game on tho wing He is a very safe tackler and takes a lot of stopping when running. RTennant proved that with practice his place-kicking would make him a match winner. The forwards all played well and were going strongly at the finish Perhaps D. Sturmey, Ewen McConachy and D. Stuart could bo singled out. The latter especially used his weight to advantage. Chisholm, playing half for P.W.D., stood out as the best back on the field. Of the other P.W.D. men Ross impressed at full-back. He did not try for length in his kicking, but made sure of getting the line. Houhitau played a dashing game on thei wing, while H. Hurley got through a, lot of rush-stopping at second five-' eighth. Perjonik and Helliwell were the pick of tho forwards, though Nash and Leahy also played well. PERSONAL Congratulations are offered to Mis s Eva Parkinson, who recently made her lirst solo flight at tho Wanganui Aero drome.
